Our relationships are important to us, however they can also be a source of much pain, worry and even conflict. Many of our relationship difficulties arise from our unrealistic expectations of others. As a result we can so often feel let down and disappointed and even resentful. Buddha teaches us many methods by which we can transform our view of others and learn to accept and appreciate others as they are.

By learning to develop a balanced and loving mind towards others, we will find within our own mind a source of inexhaustible peace and joy that nobody can take away from us – no matter how they behave.

About The Teacher

Kadam John McBretney is the Resident Teacher of Heruka Kadampa Meditation Centre. He has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism for many years under the guidance of his Spiritual Teacher, the fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Kadam John explains how to use Buddha’s teachings to solve our daily problems and find real happiness. He teaches the three Study Programmes established by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, General Programme, Foundation Programme and Teacher Training Programme, through which he inspires everyone to develop wisdom and a good heart towards others so that we can develop and maintain happy, peaceful minds in our busy daily lives.

When we look at our current world situation and see so much pain and problems, we can often feel helpless, overwhelmed and discouraged.

Through Buddha’s wisdom, we can begin to understand how our mind creates our reality and all our experiences. Understanding this if we train to view things in a positive way, we can learn and transform all difficulties into a rewarding and beneficial experience.

In this special day course we will learn how to turn negativity into a powerful force for empowering our mind. Instead of feeling stuck and helpless, we can use the challenges of modern life to develop positive states of mind such as compassion, wisdom and love. This not only makes us emotionally strong and joyful, but also enables us to bring happiness to those around us.
