Mark Budd

Mark is an experienced practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism.  Having worked professionally in the mental health and environmental sector, as a working parent Mark brings much practical experience on how to apply the practice of meditation to our busy everyday lives. His over-riding wish is to transform people’s lives through Buddhist techniques of training the mind.

Finding Freedom from Within | September

This engaging four-week series will explore how we can use meditation, mindfulness and a practical application of Buddha’s timeless wisdom to find freedom from the negative emotions that too often crowd our mind and obstruct our peace.

Although it is most beneficial to attend the whole series, each week is self-contained and will explore a different internal challenge that many of us face. We will us a Buddhist understanding of the mind to unpick why we develop such habitual responses and then how we can channel our focus in a more constructive direction, moving towards real mental freedom.

Habits of Happy People | October

Happiness is something that each one of us has the potential to experience, but often our habitual ways of thinking take us in the opposite direction. This engaging 3-week series will teach critical lessons about some of habits of happy people that will enrich your life’s experience.

We will explore several meditations and ways of thinking that uplift the mind and how by carrying these with mindfulness into our day we can maintain a light, joyful attitude whatever life throws our way. Everyone is welcome to attend this series of classes. No previous experience necessary.

Wed 16 October – Contentment 

Wed 23 October – Gratitude

Wed 30 October – Forgiveness

What to Expect

These classes are open to everyone. They start with a welcome and guided breathing meditation to settle the mind, this usually lasts around 20 minutes.

Then there is an inspiring talk exploring practical methods derived from Buddha’s teachings to improve our daily happiness, solve our internal problems and move towards lasting peace of mind. The teachings are very practical in nature, drawing from everyday examples and showing how we can remain mindful of the insights we gain during the course of our daily life.

The class concludes with a second meditation, based on the ideas raised and some take away advice on how to implement the teaching into our day.

Classes run as a series but can also be attended on a drop-in basis at any time as each class is also self-contained. See below for class details and block booking.
