Mindful Living | 4-week Mindfulness series

Training in mindfulness and meditation have been understood by Buddhist practitioners for centuries to be the key to a happy and fulfilling life. These practices are not confined to when we are sitting down, but can be integrated into every aspect of our life – becoming the foundation for everything we think, say and do.

Contrary to what many people believe, mindfulness training is not simply about “being in the moment”, but was originally taught as a process of training to remember special ways of thinking that form the basis of pure and beneficial thoughts and actions. This 3-week course will provide a traditional but accessible presentation of mindfulness training, exploring three core practices derived from Buddha’s teachings that can transform our daily living into a path to pure peace and happiness.

8th Aug – Introduction to Mindful Living

This class will introduce what mindfulness is and how we can start to integrate it into our daily life.

15th Aug – Authentic Generosity

Giving or generosity is a powerful and beneficial habit that we can easily integrate into our daily interactions with others. This does not mean simply giving materially, but cultivating a genuine attitude of generosity that leads to an experience of inner wealth and fulfllment.

22nd Aug – Mindfulness & Self-Control

The practice of being able to control one’s own body, speech and mind is an essential foundation for a happy life and a successful meditation practice. This class will make the pure disciplines taught by Buddha accessible to the modern practitioner and provide practical tools to help us kick our bad habits.

29th Aug – A fresh approach to Problems

Learn a fresh approach to the challenges we face in our everyday lives and cultivate a mind that is as strong as a mountain and as calm as the depths of an ocean.

Habits of Happy people | 4-week Mindfulness series

Happiness is something that each one of us has the potential to experience, but often our habitual ways of thinking take us in the opposite direction. This engaging 4-week mindfulness series will teach critical lessons about some of the habits of happy people that will enrich your life’s experience.
We will explore several meditations and ways of thinking that uplift the mind and how by carrying these with mindfulness into our day we can maintain a light, joyful attitude whatever life throws our way. Everyone is welcome to attend this series of classes. No previous experience necessary.

5th Sept – Contentment

“Without contentment, a rich man will think he is poor”- Geshe Kelsang Gyato. By learning to be happy with what we have we can overcome our overwhelming dissatisfaction, simplify our life and be able to focus more easily on internal changes.

12th Sept – Acceptance

In this class, we will learn how to maintain a calm and joyful mind even in the most challenging circumstances through applying Buddha’s teachings on patient acceptance.

19th Sept – Joy

It is very easy to allow our mind to focus in ways that are contradictory with our basic wish to be happy. This class will explore teachings and meditations that enable us to keep a positive mind and overcome negative thoughts such as jealousy, competitiveness and discouragement.

26th Sept – Gratitude

We can get so stuck focusing on the negative that we can forget to appreciate all the benefit we receive from others. By maintaining an awareness of the kindness of others in our life we can keep a positive, grateful mind that will make us more warm and well disposed towards others and protect us from unhappy thoughts.
