Becoming a member is the most economical way to enjoy all classes, courses and retreats offered at KMC London. If you attend classes regularly, your membership will represent substantial saving over paying for individual classes. As classes you can attend are unlimited once you have paid your monthly fee, it also provides you with many opportunities to deepen your meditation practice and find lasting solutions to the challenges of daily life.
KMC London is a registered charity #1100615 and non-profit organisation and is run largely by volunteers. All activities are dedicated to the development of peace throughout the world. All funds raised through our activities go to the International Temples Project Fund (ITP) through which whose kindness we have been able to establish our beautiful London Temple and Kensington meditation space.
Really enjoyed my retreat style course on mindfulnes
Is this for me?
At Kadampa Meditation Centre London, we strongly believe that everyone can benefit from meditation and the practical wisdom presented in Buddha’s teachings, regardless of their backgrounds or beliefs. Feel free to give it a try and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
Do I need to be a Buddhist to attend?
Absolutely not! All our classes and courses are designed to be accessible for everyone, though they draw their source from the ancient wisdom of Buddha’s teachings.
Do I need to wear a specific type of clothing?
No. Meditation is done mainly on chairs and you can choose to wear whatever is most comfortable.
Do I need to sit cross legged or bring a yoga mat?
No. These classes do not involve physical activity (there’s plenty of places focused on that!) but provide an opportunity to look inward and train our mind. Most people sit on chairs, though there is often the option to sit on cushions for those who prefer.
Why do you charge for classes?
KMC London is a registered charity, run largely by volunteers. Proceeds from classes are used to run the beautiful spaces we currently offer and additional money goes to the International Temple’s project – a fund dedicated to building centres like KMC London in cities throughout the world.
Is there parking?
Unfortunately in Kensington we do not have parking facilities. There are a few options nearby, but we would generally recommend taking the tube. We are about equal distance between High Street Kensington and Earls Court Road Tube stations.
Parking is available at the Morden Temple.
Can I bring a child?
This depends. The classes we provide are an opportunity for people to experience some quiet and peace of mind. If the child can sit quietly through the class then you are welcome to bring them along. In fact, some children may also benefit from listening to the class and participating. Please contact email@example.com if you have any more questions about this. We will do what we can to make it work for you.
